Presented and in competition at the Rome film festival
Il ladro di giorni is the story of a meeting between a child, who takes his first steps in the world, and a man who returns in his life after years in prison, “a son who has almost forgotten to have a father and a father who finds it hard to recognize in that child his son” said the author. In the film, Salvo, eleven years old, lives with his uncles in Trentino. On the day of his First Communion, while playing football with friends, a man, his father Vincenzo, unexpectedly appears on the sidelines. Salvo hardly recognizes him: he has not seen him for seven years, since two policemen had taken him away from their home in Puglia. Now Vincenzo is out of prison, he says he wants to spend a few days with his son and leaves with him to the south of Italy. During this journey through the country, punctuated by many meetings and memories, Salvo will learn to know his father but will have to deal with his secrets and his past.
